Bad Elephant of the Year 2015

Donald J. Trump via Wikipedia
I don't really think I need to document the overwhelming case against Trump, but let's remember a few of his greatest offenses:
  • upset at first debate moderator Megyn Kelly's questions, Trump made a not-so-subtle reference to menstruation and demanded her termination from Fox News
  • irate at John McCain's criticisms of his cultists, chickenhawk Trump mocked McCain's military service as a POW, suggesting McCain was responsible for his being captured and held him responsible for the VA hospital scandals
  • when McCain ally Linsey Graham criticized Trump's response to McCain, Trump publicly released Graham's private cellphone number
  • Trump accused some of his fellow candidate critics as being ungrateful, hypocritical recipients of his campaign contributions. He notably said during a debate he had given to Paul, when in fact he contributed to a charity for which Rand Paul volunteers his service as an eye surgeon.
  • after blaming Romney's self-deportation of undocumented aliens for his 2012 loss and as cruel, heartless, Trump has called for the direct physical deportation of said aliens.
  • Trump has called for targeting innocent family members of terrorists, a violation of the Geneva Convention
  • He mocked Rick Perry's intelligence; Rick Perry, like Trump a former Democrat, has one of the longest tenures as governor in state history and the state with the strongest job creation rates since the Great Recession.
  • He has made snide remarks about Carly Fiorina's looks.
  • He has argued that Ben Carson has a "pathological temper" and essentially compared him to a child molester.
  • He suggested that a protester at one of his rallies who was punched by an attendee should have been roughed up
  • He called Cruz a 'maniac'.
  • He falsely and with zero evidence alleged that Mexico was emptying its prisons across the border, especially violent criminals, including rapists.
  • He unconstitutionally called for excluding Muslim immigrants/refugees.
  • When informed after the Mexican immigrant allegation that some of his followers in Boston urinated on the face of of a homeless Latino man and beat him up in the name of Trump,  Trump initially was dismissive of the incident, simply calling his supporters "passionate". (He later denounced the violence.)
  • He demanded Fox News fire perhaps the most esteemed conservative commentator in America, George Will, who has been a persistent critic of Trump stemming from his earlier Presidential campaigns.
I don't mean to suggest this list is exhaustive; I haven't sourced each incident, but the reader can easily google any of the above items as I did. Now of course dirty campaigns have been part of the landscape since the 1800 battle between Adams and Jefferson. But it's more the nature and extent of his violations of Reagan's infamous 11th amendment, even before a single primary vote has been cast. His hair-trigger temper and inability to maintain a civil tone over even mild criticisms materially disqualify him from serious consideration for the office of the Presidency.
