In creating, the only hard thing's to begin;
A grass-blade's no easier to make than an oak.

The Statists think that their authority is validated by Matthew 22:15-22: and Romans 13:1-7. Lord, they don't know what they're reading.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus, in numerous sayings, distinguishes between the earthly kingdom and the kingdom of heaven. He unambiguously asserts primacy John 19:11— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Neither Jesus nor Paul assert or imply that actions of the State are intrinsically moral; State actors are accountable to a higher authority— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus' teachings are based on individual, not communal, salvation, responsibility. He explicitly acknowledges free choice:— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus did not rant about the rich growing richer and the poor poorer. He focuses on the widow's meager Temple offering, not on bigger ones.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016

Jesus made it clear that He didn't want His mission confounded with earthly power. He did not preach to the rulemakers or incite resistance.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus wasn't impressed with the trappings of power or wealth. He refused to intervene on behalf of the jealous brother's inheritance.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus was dismissive of the mother's request for her sons to sit in the coveted seats nearest Him. He washed His disciples' feet.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
In the payment of taxes dilemma, Jesus does not answer the question directly. He does not assert that the Israelis owe a debt to occupiers.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus is using this as a teaching moment. He asks whose face is on the coin. Caesar in fact was considered a god. Think lst/2nd commandment.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus pairs giving back what is Caesar's with giving to God what is God's. This is deliberate: to God, we owe all things, to men, our debts.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
When the political parasites lust over the rich man's property, they commit the sin of envy. Wealth is subordinate to the primacy of God.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Jesus sees voluntary charitable acts as a prayer to God. He finds no virtue in a thief's redistribution of the property of others.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
As for Romans 13 first, note that Roman 12 begins "Do not be conformed to this world".There is a higher authority. Earthly authority exists.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Paul does not want Christians to confound political with spiritual authority, and he makes it clear earthly authority must be morally based.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
The early Christian Romans were being persecuted. It is clear that Paul is not justifying the execution of Christ under Pilate or repression— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
I don't know what's going on with Cruz' NY campaign, but I've seen no improvement in the polls over the past week--only one in the 20's.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016

Pope Francis briefly greeted Bernie Sanders who is staying at the same Vatican hotel. A handshake is merely common courtesy, nothing more.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Pope Francis said that anyone reading more into his handshake with atheist socialist Bernie Sanders should see a psychiatrist. He got berned— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016
Duckin' Donald Trump argued on Fox that Cruz, a collegiate debate champion who has repeatedly challenged him, would lose a debate. Delusion!— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 16, 2016

Apparently Trump thinks "Who Wants To Be a POTUS" has a lifeline rule.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 17, 2016
Trump is beyond incompetent. There's due diligence. You cannot speak of an Israel/Palesinian agreement without addressing the settlements.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) April 17, 2016

First JOTY Nomination of the Year: Barbara Boxer
Bad Elephant of the Year Nominee: Donald Trump
I can't believe I've waited as long into the new year as I have to list my first nominations for my annual mock awards. Trump blew away the opposition last year and it wasn't even close. This year, where do you even start? His retweeting a comparative wife photo with an unflattering image of Heidi Cruz? His libelous unsupported assertion that Ted Cruz coordinated activities with a PAC, a federal crime? His false accusation Ted Cruz stole the Iowa caucuses and then stole the Colorado delegation without due process? His atrocious behavior during the debates, the name-calling, the interruptions? His knee-jerk defense of his campaign manager who roughly grabbed then Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields after a campaign event, leaving marks.
