@AlexNowrasteh @wmata I just read on Snopes that bit about fascists making the trains run on time was just an urban legend.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
This is Soft Rock America, Trump denies sending out this message out to his cultists, but wink and a nod: https://t.co/Dvje2M4LmG— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
Donald Trump still won't address campaign manager Corey Lewandowski's manhandling of then Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields.Sad. No values— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
Trump's attack on imports is gross ignorance of economics. As Krugman notes, "the need to export is a burden that a country must bear,"— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
Trade is for mutual benefit, which doesn't change because of borders. I don't want to give up my utility infielder but I need a good lefty.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
America still makes about 3/4 of manufactured goods we consume, labor costs may be only a small part of the price & US labor more productive— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
Chris Christie is now reduced to interviewing Trump at campaign events, like one sorry political infomercial spokesman? Sad.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
Joe Scarborough is right (even a broken clock is right twice a day): Trump's Chicagoland rally was staged for publicity. Cinco de Mayo next?— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
It looks like the GOP "War on Women" centers on the morally corrupt, lawless Trump campaign. https://t.co/ezEBBnVZJ1— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 14, 2016
I see Burger King is selling hot dogs. My MBA capstone project involved McDonald's. Ray Kroc refused to sell them: too many ways to prepare.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 15, 2016
Could you imagine if McDonald's put pigs in a blanket to their dollar menu? They could call them Little Trumps.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) March 15, 2016

(Reason). When the left stops Trump from speaking, Trump wins.
Anyone who thinks that Trump ventured straight into the heart of Obamaland without the idea of knowing his presence would attract dissent is gullible as hell. Trump went into one of the biggest media markets in the US, where no Republican has served as mayor for many decades. To discuss the issues? Give me a break; even during a dozen GOP debates, Trump is a lightweight who doesn't understand policy beyond surface area. He is a caricature of a serious human being.
But all this is manipulative bullshit. He uses so-called debates to rail against political correctness and a dozen other prepackaged soundbites; what better way to rally support in a state where Cruz is nipping at his heels?
Does the ill-tempered, unprincipled, incompetent, opportunistic, unqualified, economically illiterate right-fascist Trump have a right to speak his mind, whatever little there is? Of course. The idea that one GOP candidate out of 17 has alone received over 50% of free media coverage is being deprived of free speech is absurd on its face. Why Reason is putting lipstick on a pig and providing a rationale for a demagogue who wants to poke a bear with a stick boggles the imagination.
(Cato Institute). "When people ask who is at fault for America’s tragic turn inward, if Trump wins a major party nomination – or, worse, the election – the very GOP foreign policy elite that is now denouncing him should get the lion’s share of the blame for his rise."
Anyone linking the rise of Trump to neocons isn't paying attention. While Trump has repeated some off the anti-Bush rhetoric during the period he was a registered Democrat, let's not forget that he blamed Bush 41 for not getting the job done on Hussein in the first place. He has openly advocating taking Arab oil. He has talked about giving illegal orders to torture and go after terror suspects' familes.
Let's face it: there was only one candidate who fell out of the neocon groupthink, and that was Rand Paul, who ended the campaign with single digit support. Donald Trump has talked about raising the defense budget, not auditing it. Why would neocons object to Trump? Because he's a wild card, unprincipled; they aren't sure what he'll deal away.
(Cato Institute). "There are at least three under-explored factors that explain the rise of Trump in 2016."
I already had a disagreement with Nowrasteh over his throwing in the Know Nothings which were mostly the nativist party with a NE power base. The American Party (a variant of the Know Nothings) was second to the dominant Democrats. I do not doubt that the South resented heavy immigration in the North which undermined a regional balance of power and perceived threats to Southern culture.
