Miscellany: 7/24/15

Quote of the Day
You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note.

The Failure of America To Live Up to the Founders' Ideals

(IPI). The Illinois Supreme Court’s precedent has made it impossible for Chicago to stave off bankruptcy by making even the most meager reforms to government-worker pensions.
The bottom line is that the Illinois Supreme Court judicial whores basically held that corrupt crony unionist bargains made by bought political whores behind the backs of taxpayers are to be enforced, even if the government doesn't have the money to pay for them. We are not even talking about modest pensions--in many cases, retirees are making more than median active worker households. The idea that taxpayers are on the hook for ALL grossly underfunded pension systems is unconstitutional at its core. (Not what Illinois judicial whores consider "unconstitutional" but the US Constitution.)

(FEE). Politicians always tell people things are getting worse.
How about we hear from someone that actually has a degree in economics? http://www.vanityfair.com/.../2011/05/top-one-percent-201105
A left-wing economist; what do you expect? Almost makes Krugman sound rational... from freecapitalists.org:

" Did you listen to Stiglitz on EconTalk?

"His main assertion is that the middle class has become poorer since the so-called "free-market" policies implemented during the Regan years. To support this assertion he cites two statistics: (1) median house-hold income has remained fairly stagnant and (2) median 'net worth' has fallen. Russ Roberts responded by pointing out the fact that (A) house-holds have been shrinking over time and that actual individual income, in real terms, has been rising (he even ignored the torrential amount of innovation that has occurred since 1980, which constitute real increases in the standard of living) and that (B) net-wealth was hit especially hard because of the recent housing collapse. Stiglitz had a hard time responding to these issues, and it was extremely obvious that he was cherry-picking statistics that helped his argument and ignoring the ones that do not."

(Reason). With Hillary Clinton, Democrats have dropped even the pretense of giving a shit about transparency.
Not at all... the right continues to overlook Bernie Sanders.
Are you serious? An economically illiterate socialist whose morally corrupt policies would impoverish the standard of living for every American, whose plunder of the economic productive for the parasitic, inefficient State comes at the expense of the economy? The fact this tiresome, delusional demogogue gets any traction proves there are a lot of gullible retards out there

(CSPAN). Cruz ranring at McConnell on Ex-Im here.
Wait...is he serious? The republican party made it their job to stop anything and everything that didn't fit their agenda. Democrats aren't perfect either but they do a lot more than the GOP.
Retard "Politics of Envy" OP; the Fascist Party has been killing the economy with regulations that cost roughly $2T a year and spending and promising the government into bankruptcy. The BEST thing the GOP can do is block the fascist demagogues; serious reforms meant getting a fiscal conservative into the White House.
