Election Night March 10

Biden swept MMM (Michigan, the big prize; MS; MO); Mississippi and Missouri were lopsided victories leaving Comrade Bernie with few delegates. I'm going to publish this post before the last 3 states will be called. ND displayed the banked mail vote only for hours; Sanders holds a shrinking 8.2 point lead with about half of the vote out. In Idaho Biden holds a firming 5.8 point lead with 83% of the vote in. In Washington Sanders and Biden have been exchanging the lead; as I write, Sanders clings to a 0.2 point lead with 67% of the vote in and that hasn't changed for a while.

Whatever the remaining outcomes are, Biden will accomplish his best case in Sanders' core strength western states--roughly delegate parity. Sanders is continuing to underperform relative to his 2016 campaign. As I write, Biden has 820 delegates (according to the AP), roughly 41% delegates needed to win the nomination. Next Tuesday are AZ, IL, FL, and OH. According to 538, IL has Biden at 53%, AZ has Biden at 52%, OH Biden at 54%, FL Biden at 59%. It's going to be an ugly day for Bernie.
