@jaimedavila Don't be stupid. First of all, Trump can't fire Justice Gorsuch. Second, Gorsuch openly condemned Trump's attacks on Judge Curiel.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
Does Trump expect loyalty from those who worked in the Executive Branch? Perhaps. But Comey was not coloring inside the lines at his job.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
We now know that classified emails via HRC ended up on Weiner's laptop, and Weiner did not hold a clearance and had no right to know.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
Ask anyone familiar with classified material. There are strict controls over transmission, printing and disposal of classified material.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
It is impossible for Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin not to have known about security policies. Convenience of printouts for HRC: no excuse.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
If a classified employee or contractor had done what Clinton or Abedin did, they would probably be stripped of access, terminated & charged— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
What Comey did in glossing over HRC's violations of security policy was to set up a corrupt double standard violating the rule of law.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
Comey can play his victim card however he wishes, with a predictable ax to grind against Trump, but he must address the deputy AG's letter— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
What the hell is wrong with Trump? He's now trying to bully fired Comey, warning against leaks of any taped conversations, etc? LET IT GO.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
Just so we're clear, Trump: the fidelity of everyone who works in your Executive Branch is to the Constitution and enacted law, NOT TO YOU.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
Oh my God, is Trump really THAT Nixonian that he is taping without knowledge or consent conversations with other people? Double-edged sword.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
FYI, Trump: SCOTUS has already ruled that taped recordings are not yours to control and can be used against you, say in an impeachment.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
Not only is Trump Herbert Hoover when it comes to economic policy, but he may be a J. Edgar Hoover when it comes to taping people.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017

What is with Trump's obsession with Rosie O'Donnell? First, Presidential debates; now he's resorting to mock-quoting her on firing Comey?— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017
@RachelAzzara I'm glad to see you understand why Hillary Clinton lost, with her criminal violations of national security policy.— Ronald Guillemette (@raguillem) May 12, 2017

(National Review.)."Trump fired James Comey in the middle of an accelerating investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election and then lied to the American people about the reason. No amount of Democratic hysteria can make that right." -- David French http://www.nationalreview.com/article/447545/democratic-hypocrisy-hysteria-dont-make-trump-right?utm_source=social&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=french&utm_content=hysteria
But, as Trump noted in the termination letter, Trump himself was not a focus of the investigation into the Russia election kerfuffle. Moreover, Congress is doing its own investigation, and no doubt any attempt by Trump to squash the investigation post-Comey would come under scrutiny.
Comey's boss, the deputy AG, recommended the termination, and the AG concurred. Whether or not the deputy's rationalization coincided with Trump's is irrelevant.
The fact is that Trump had made Comey's exoneration of Clinton a campaign issue; the political issue that Trump has on this is the timing of the move, why he had waited as long as he did to pull the trigger. He can get past this by naming a good replacement.
There is almost no one who can dispute Comey's handling of the Clinton investigation was outside the scope of his position; whereas some may argue it serves as a convenient post hoc rationalization, the deputy AG could legitimately argue a delay on due process grounds.
Every libertarian lawyer I have read discussing the issue agrees that Trump was empowered to terminate Comey, with or without reason.
Yes, Trump has mishandled this, and he's paying a political price for it. But let's not forget that the Democrats had wanted to fire Comey before they reinvented him as Trump's victim. I mean, Hillary Clinton literally over the last couple of weeks was blaming Comey for her election loss.
