(Reason). Brace yourselves for what might be the most frivolous higher education lawsuit of the century.
I can just see the next headline: newly minted RN with crippling anxiety sues the hospital for the deaths of two patients on her watch....

(IPI). The Wall Street Journal: Illinois' Supreme Court ruled last week that Springfield can’t alter pension benefits, prompting Moody’s to downgrade the debt of the city, its public schools and park district all to junk status.
Now the Chicago Teachers Union wants to make another contribution to the collapse.
Peg eligibility dates and cap distributions to social security policies, outlaw teacher tenure and seniority-based layoff retention, peg teacher compensation to objective student-based performance and market-based supply/demand factors, enable true education competition/choice, including parental choice of public/private schools .

(Reason). The Democratic Party is undergoing a kind of quiet, unofficial coup. President Barack Obama isn’t in charge anymore. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is.
The hypocrisy of Cherokee Lizzie is astounding economic illiteracy. Free trade is for the benefit of consumers, including the poor. Then there's also her endorsement of the crony capitalist crown jewel, the Export-Import Bank.

(Liberty.me). "Would Jesus endorse Caesar’s tax? Taxes violate God’s Seventh Commandment, 'Thou shall not steal.'" - Ned Netterville explores Jesus' response to taxes.
This is a rather disingenuous take on both Jesus and Paul. The scriptures repeatedly speak of Jesus not wanting to conflate His Kingdom with political power--the devil tried to tempt Jesus with political power, the people wanted to make Him king, etc. In one story, His disciple raises the issue of certain taxes, and Jesus tells him to go fish and the fish will have enough money to pay both of their taxes; He basically tells the disciple that He doesn't want His message being distracted by discussion of taxes. The basic concept of "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar" is artfully phrased; He DID NOT say pay whatever the State demands--He simply doesn't want His message to be conflated with earthly matters.

As for Romans 13, like Jesus, Paul also uses rhetorical devices (e.g., "turn the other cheek"). He's more interested in people acting righteously and suggests that bad behavior has consequences. Arguing that the misdeeds of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, etc. have God's endorsement--including persecution of the faithful--is rather absurd.
