McClanahan on Mitt Romney's Trump Conviction Vote

Pierre Delecto was a Mitt Romney pseudonym on Twitter. McClanahan is pretty much mocking Romney here, and I disagree with much of what he has to say here.  I'll particularly note here that Biden announced for office on 4/25/19, but his prospective candidacy was well known, with RCP showing Biden beating Trump's ass stretching back into 2018, at minimum. The Zelensky phone call in question was 3 months later. Also, note that Hunter left Burisma's board around the time his dad announced. So McClanahan's timeline is all screwed up. Biden WAS a candidate at the time of the Zelensky phone call--not only that but Biden was beating Trump consistently in the polls.

Now, it's true that Shokin was appointed the equivalent of Ukraine's Attorney General after Hunter Biden joined the board in 2014--but Shokin basically sat on Burisma investigations. It's true that eyebrows were raised in the Obama Administration when Hunter joined the board, thinking it sent mixed messages over the Administration's anti-corruption policy position, given VP Biden's role. The US had opened an investigation into Burisma. But Biden's push on Shokin's termination not only was consistent with Obama Administration policy, but Republican senators supported the push, as well as other international partners. That the corrupt Shokin would find a scapegoat in younger Biden's presence on the board is predictable, along with a fictitious investigation into Burisma motivating the senior Biden's ultimatum for Ukraine's discharge of Shokin.

McClanahan also seems to buy into Administration talking points about Biden/Ukraine corruption issues. The fact is Trump NEVER discussed corruption details in his April or July phone calls (although he had briefing notes for the April phone call).

Why did I embed this flawed video? Because I agree that a big central government is fundamentally corrupt and other POTUS, even Washington, have committed impeachable acts.
