[I'm responding to a libertarian critique of Big Defense as to being simply ownership of the military-industrial complex over Congressional Republicans. I do not doubt that lobbyists will fight for their "fair share" of defense spending, but the real story is the fear-mongering rationale for external meddling.]

Well, I agree with the policy of non-interventionism. But be clear--it's not about the military-industrial complex. Sure, if the money is there, they'll chase it. But this is more about the rationale behind intervention. The DoD recently modified its mission statement to include defending our influence. Whether we are talking spreading our republican policies on other countries, pursuing the terrorist bogeyman, etc. With Afghanistan it was always about fighting the "good" war when its government refused to turn over OBL. You have to take on the bullshit propaganda of foreign policy and not simply scapegoat DoD contractors.

[Bette Midler published a rant over the authoritarian nature of the Trump Administration. I don't have an issue with her observations except her skipping over the expansion of the imperial Presidency under Obama.]

Ummm, where was she after the 2008 election which resulted in a Dem super-majority Congress and control of the White House?
