I wrote earlier this week on the Gray Lady's disgraceful story, an anti-libertarian piece where the Times reduced a multi-hour interview with the distinguished economist to a few soundbites out of context, and Block's Jesuit university president, Fr. Wildes, subsequently threw Block under the bus in a piece published in a school newspaper. A Louisiana Lutheran pastor, Rev. Beane, has written an elegant critique of Wildes and the "scandal" (I think the real scandal is the Gray Lady's lack of professionalism) that I highly recommend here.

Felons and Democratic legislators steal from the current generation, but legislators also steal from future taxpayers.

(We the Individuals). Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

(Judge Andrew Napolitano). NC "Choose Life" license plates run afoul of 1st Am. “The state has to be neutral with respect to freedom of speech...It can’t pick one side and suppress the other. That’s the whole purpose of the First Amendment.” Fox & Friends
Easy solution....NO VANITY PLATES! Seriously, the point of plates are to make sure the vehicle is authorized to be used on public roadways. If you want to wallpaper your car with bumper stickers go for it. THAT is you right, and make sure it's prominently displayed right next to your Ron Paul sticker!!! Problem solved.
I disagree with the judge here. I would argue that states can reflect preferences to promote tenth amendment concerns like morals, healthcare and public safety. For example, libraries make choices everyday, e.g., not to purchase child pornography. I might agree with the judge if North Carolina attempted to, say, ban pro-abortion choice bumper stickers. I make a distinction between positive and negative liberties. It's one thing to restrict government from interference with the expression of pro-abortion sentiment and another thing to force government to promote idiosyncratic views.
