Miscellany: 2/03/14

Quote of the Day

[E]ven our Commercial policy should hold an equal and impartial hand:
neither seeking nor granting exclusive favours or preferences;
consulting the natural course of things;
diffusing and diversifying by gentle means the streams of Commerce,
but forcing nothing;
establishing with Powers so disposed;
in order to give trade a stable course.

The #1 Reason I'm Watching More FNC

Crackpots at the Super Bowl

My Vote for Best Super Bowl Commercial

Is there anything more beautiful than America's children? That marvelous tapestry of races and ethnicities, tongues, cultures of a nation of immigrants, something to be celebrated, not feared. I recently got introduced to a regional staple, the pepperoni roll, by my co-workers (I have to watch my carbs, but what a marvelous idea (not as good as cretons, though)). My first language was French, born of bilingual parents and grandparents, of Franco-American heritage.

My runner up was Radio Shack's imaginative take showing they're not your Daddy's Radio Shack anymore...
