(Illinois Policy Institute). Lawmakers and special-interest groups across Illinois are trying to dupe Illinoisans into paying higher income taxes. They’re trying to convince Illinoisans that a progressive income tax hike is only a tax hike on the rich. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Income taxes are bad economic policy to begin with; progressive income taxes are even more perverse. We have seen tax revenues grow after major tax cuts over the twentieth century. There aren't enough rich people in Illinois to pay off state spending, and those can easily relocate to a no-income-tax state like Texas or Florida.
(Illinois Policy Institute). Gov. Pat Quinn is claiming victory after a study released by CareerBuilder showed that Illinois ranked third-highest nationally in the creation of net new business establishments from 2009-2012. What the governor and his supporters don’t mention is that Illinois lost 33,500 payroll jobs during that same time period. Texas, on the other hand, shows what healthy business growth should look like. It led nationally in net new business creation for the same period, with nearly 30,000 net new businesses. Unlike Illinois, Texas increased employment by 785,000 and payrolls by more than 700,000 during the same period.
Texas has severely underfunded schools leading to some of the dumbest kids, the highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation, racist voter ID laws, Rick Perry, and fundamentalism in their government, I don't want to be TX.
As a Texas-educated former professor whom has taught at both Texas and Illinois public universities, my Texas students were highly competitive. 'Progressive' trolls need to speak for themselves instead of partisan talking points which lack credibility. Texas is a state that has economic growth policies which is why it ranks among the highest in population and job growth.
