Back When They Elected REAL Presidents
Early into his administration, Coolidge woke up in a hotel room to find a burglar going through his things (where was security?!). He asked the thief what he wanted and the vagrant replied that he was a college student, he'd run out of money and he couldn't afford a train ticket home. So Cal asked for his wallet back, took out $32 and gave it to him as a loan – and showed him the back way out of the hotel to avoid the police. The money was apparently later repaid.Political Cartoon
