Obama Will Negotiate--With Putin, But Not With the Speaker of the House

Yeah, I know: "I know Vladimir Putin; the man who has propped up the Assad regime through arms sales has been a friend of this Nobel Peace Prize winner. And John Boehner is no Putin. For one thing, Boehner has orange skin..." Obama is a spendaholic; he's got a 12-point plan for dealing with it.  The first step is to restore Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, the second step is to nominate a knee-jerk money printer like Janet Yellen to replace "Helicopter Ben" at the Federal Reserve,...

New JOTY Nominee: Dianne Feinstein

This is not an ideological pro-gun rights blog; I do believe citizens have a right to self-defense, particularly when police are not immediately available, and I'm wary of arbitrary restrictions on that right. When I heard of the Navy Yard tragedy, 3 thoughts came to mind: (1) thoughts and prayer for the victims and their families, (2) I had been submitted for a contractor position there (it never got to the interview stage) a few years back, and (3) anti-firearm activists would seize on the tragedy to exploit it for a restriction on personal liberties. It was utterly pathetic to see the senior senator from California not only dust off her failed, ineffectual bill but falsely identify the weapons used by the murderer. There is no excuse for lack of due diligence on salient facts of the tragedy; there was no rush except perhaps Feinstein's desire to deliver a soundbite for the nightly newcasts...

How Obama Inspires Us

I think that there is nothing a true-believer progressive in the face of decades of failed progressive programs, multiple high-casualty wars, etc. It takes a certain madness to pile up in new debt nearly 3 years of federal revenue, do nothing about another $80T in unfunded liabilities but propose a new federal entitlement in the midst of a slow-growth, jobless recovery.  I think what's particularly obnoxious is his propensity to spout off nonsensical pretentious rhetoric and co-opt terms like "fair", "balanced", etc. in a totally partisan context.
