Quote of the Day
Do not wait for the last judgment.
It takes place every day.
Albert Camus

Next JOTY Nominee: John Kerry

Have you no shame, man? I did a slow burn during the Sunday talk show podcasts listening to Kerry's self-assured, condescending, pompous, pro-interventionist crap; I realize that it's his job to argue as best he can that convoluted, incoherent, seat of the pants nonsense called Obama's foreign policy. The King of Nuance now discerns "war in the classic sense". This is the same guy advocating an unsanctioned military action with virtually no international backing:
On Jan. 11, 1991, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts took the Senate floor to make a clear, impassioned speech against passage of a resolution authorizing the first President Bush to use force to eject Saddam Hussein's Iraqi forces from Kuwait.
"Are we supposed to go to war simply because one man - the president - makes a series of unilateral decisions that put us in a box, a box that makes war, to a greater degree, inevitable?" Mr. Kerry asked.
Bush 41 not only went to Congress for approval, but he built a real international coalition; I could at least respect Kerry's right to question whether a war against Hussein was in our national interests, but the same skepticism he prominently espoused as a Vietnam veteran protester in the early 1970's seemed to dissipate after the first Gulf War. I feel no need to repeat Matt Welch's shredding of Kerry's rhetoric here. (One particularly compelling point involved  Kerry's shameless, somewhat inaccurate exploitation of an episode where FDR turned away a boatload of German Jews in mid-1939.)

Amateur Hour At the White House

I have to admit I am fascinated by the train wreck of the Obama Presidency--here's a guy who ran for the Presidency as an anti-interventionist; from 2007: "“The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation." Yet in Libya, he refused to go to Congress for authorization of military action of a country that did not attack the US. He starts to do the same thing in Syria, then abruptly decides to ask for Congressional approval, while fuzzily suggesting that he didn't need such approval and might act regardless of outcome. The dithering and politicization of the Afghanistan surge where he flagged in advance the additional manpower would be withdrawn before a single operation of new troops seems to be repeated here, where Assad by some accounts is using the interim to implement human shield defenses at key targets. Even if he gets his approval, the military will have lost the element of surprise. (The latest I've read is that opponents in the House are about a dozen votes away from clinching rejection with over 100 undecided.)

I'm particularly aghast by the domino theory that suggests any use of  chemical weapons, regardless of circumstances, justifies American intervention. Never mind the Obama Administration is turning a blind eye towards atrocities by Syrian rebels...Then there is the indefensible stand that some forms of murder (e.g., by chemical weapons) are more equal...

All of this is an inconsistent, incoherent, convoluted mess which undermines US credibility in foreign policy.

Infanticide Is Murder; Consider Adoption

A little newborn baby boy was killed by his mother (left in the toilet tank of a bar). Every child is a beautiful gift from God. See the video notes (about...) on Youtube for more details. In some states like Pennsylvania (where the murder took place), you can surrender your baby at a hospital, no questions asked.
