Note to Readers

Well, on Saturday, I embedded the much-hyped 2000th episode of the Tom Woods podcast. Two of the longest clips I've ever clipped on the blog, over 90 minutes each, and I didn't watch all of them before publishing the post. I did expect s mini-roast of Tom Woods (especially mocking hie 5'7" height, his own promotions of commercial sponsors (Harry's razors, Skillshare, etc.), his own bad case of COVID-19, etc.) There were some cameo clips of Ron Paul and Gene Epstein (SOHO debates). There were some unintentionally funny moments, like when they played a version of Family Feud, including a category of things associated with Tom Woods, and nobody came up with his constantly hyped Liberty Classroom.

Other than a spot featuring the mom of imprisoned Ross Ulbricht  (Silk Road website), it was mostly a celebration of Tom with geek entertainment (including a magic act and a Dad joke-off, which quite frankly bored me). It turned out that the much-hyped Michael Malice's "mystery guest" appeared at the end of the show, and it seemed to be a ventriloquist dummy of Tom Woods, with the worst act I've ever seen. There was a weird clip of Malice getting heckled by someone, with a cursory name drop of comedian and frequent guest Dave Smith, not expected for the event. I'm not sure what that was but they didn't edit it out; Malice and Woods are known to prank each other, so the heckler could have been a Woods plant.

There were the usual shots at other libertarians, like at Cato Institute and Reason (long story, but suffice it to say I regularly listen to the Cato podcast and probably clip a majority of Reason videos). Woods is obsessed with Fauci, and there were several other references to Woods' critical coverage of COVID-19 policy, an interesting vintage clip of Woods at a Murray Rothbard speech, etc. There was heavy promotion of (present) Scott Horton's recent SOHO debate with neo-conservative Bill Kristol.

In hindsight the videos are far too indulgent, and I would have preferred a condensed version which I didn't have available. But there are reasons why I don't cover most Woods' and Mises Institute episodes.

Political Humor

I particularly liked the shot at Trump's failed casino in NJ.

Musical Interlude: #1 Hits of 1980

Kenny Rogers, "Lady". My favorite Rogers hit, written by Lionel Richie.
