DEAD WRONG: Public Transportation Should Be Free

Ron Paul and Other Doctors Against the Lockdowns

In an item I would normally save for one of my journal posts, I finally got a doctor's office to call me back. I was supposed to have a prescription changed after my current supply was (recently) depleted, and the doctor wanted to meet with me first (about 3 months back). But the crisis put off that visit. It looks like the original in-person appointment they made for later this month (6 months ago) looks like it's still on, as Maryland slowly reopens the economy, and they'll accommodate my prescription change in the interim.

The way this has intervened in people's lives, including their general health, has costs over and beyond losing jobs. Millions of people haven't been able to see their doctors. Yes, telemedicine exists, but other things like routine scans and blood tests aren't happening.  Just to give a couple of examples, how do you weight delays of an initial treatment of undetected cancer or say minor strokes? By the time you're diagnosed, it could be too late; permanent damage has set in. This is not to minimize the reality of the awful scourge of COVID-19, but this interruption of the rest of our healthcare sector is also taking its toll on other health needs.
