McClanahan on Is Modern Secession "Dangerous"?
Just a side note here: My great grandparents emigrated from Quebec in the late nineteenth century, part of the infamous diaspora (there were limited resources, say farmland, to accommodate an increasing population). My brothers and I grew up in the Roots generation. (In fact, OLLU mandated I attend a visiting lecture from then a largely unknown Alex Haley.) My parents' generation largely stressed their assimilation but largely spoke French to my maternal grandfather at his home. My beloved late maternal uncle, a priest, had zero interest in the Quebec separatist movement during my early adulthood; he bluntly told me if I'm so interested, move there. (No, I've never stepped foot in Canada.) I'm somewhat surprised Brion chose this topic, but he does often speak on succession; I think here he was mostly analyzing the leftist who wrote a relevant opinion. Oh, Google attached a climate change label on the video, probably because Brion mocked the lefty's obsession with the issue.
