Post #6605 M: Do Libertarians Care About the Poor? ; McClanahan on Activist Historians Against Trump! ; Why minimum wage hikes are a bad idea

 Quote of the Day

You have it easily in your power to increase the sum total of this world's happiness now. How?
By giving a few words of sincere appreciation to someone who is lonely or discouraged.
Perhaps you will forget tomorrow the kind words you say today,
but the recipient may cherish them over a lifetime.

Just a passing comment here: I have two sources that I often clip, McClanan and St. Onge, who are not pro-immigrant like me and are tmprthic to Friedman's hotility against welfare benefits to migrants. In fact, legal immigrants are generally ineligible as well as unauthorized migrants. Personally, I'm not in favor of the federally funded welfare net, full stop, which is unconstitutional in concept. I am also opposed to individual state-based welfare but at least those might be constitutional for some states. I of course oppose the corrupt deal St. Onge describes here assuming his characterization is correct. I, however, cringe at his use of the pejorative "illegals".
