Post #7106 M: Ilya Shapiro Gets Canceled for a Tweet; Corporate Racism is Now Illegal; Why Government Spending Is Driving Up Interest Rates

Quote of the Day
So, then, to every man his chance --
to every man, regardless of his birth, his shining golden opportunity--
to every man his right to live, to work, to be himself,
to become whatever his manhood and his vision can combine to make him --
this, seeker, is the promise of America.
Thomas Wolfe

Ilya Shapiro Gets Canceled for a Tweet

The background involves the process of Biden replacing Breyer on SCOTUS with KBJ, in line with Biden's specific DEI criteria. Then Georgetown law professor libertarian Ilya Shapiro argued that Biden should nominate a more qualified progressive jurist, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit,  Sri Srinivasan. Shapito wrote the following tweet:
“Objectively best pick for Biden is Sri Srinivasan, who is solid prog & v smart,” Shapiro wrote in the tweet. “Even has identity politics benefit of being first Asian (Indian) American. But alas doesn’t fit into the latest intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get lesser black woman. Thank heaven for small favors?”

Ultimately, Georgetown exercised cancel culture, forcing Shapiro to resign. My guess is that Kibbe is revisiting this incident in the wake of Trump's controversial executive order targeting DEI.
