Greatness lies not in being strong,
but in the right use of strength.

Obama's Unprofessional Response to Gun Control Senate Defeat

Remember how Obama, having had backed the DC gun ban, disingenuously paid lip service to the Second Amendment while posing as a phony centrist in the 2008 campaign, just like he pretended to support the traditional definition of marriage, after 31 states explicitly reaffirmed it? I personally didn't like it when a majority of voters reelected the worst, least qualified President in American history last fall--but I didn't have a temper tantrum.
Calling the defeat of his gun control efforts “a pretty shameful day for Washington,” a defiant and angry President Barack Obama announced in the Rose Garden Wednesday that the fight would go on.
Stoned faced and curt, the President used unusually pointed words to criticize the 45 Senators, including four Democrats, who successfully defeated the bill... Obama said the bill met his own test of worthwhile gun regulation, but “too many Senators failed theirs.”
Obama's megalomaniac pursuit of trying to restrict the rights of other people he doesn't agree with is nothing new. First of all, even if the bill even passed the Senate, the idea it would pass the House intact is a departure from reality. Second, it's just bad policy, intended to make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. In the case of Newtown, the mass murderer stole weapons and first executed his own mother. Even if by some miracle the targeted legislation could have kept firearms away from the mass murderer, we have just seen how homemade bombs can kill and maim.

What's worse than death by mass murderers? How about death by government? Not to mention Obama's escalation of collateral damage by drone strikes, probably many resulting in more casualties than the Newtown or Boston atrocities? I wonder how many victims and surviving family members wish that the UN would pass US military control measures.... I suggest that the Hypocrite-in-Chief tone down his unconstitutional aggression against nations which haven't attacked us before he goes on his self-righteous rants condemning members of his own party voting with the interests of their home states.

Familiar readers should know where this is going. For his incivility and public temper tantrum, Obama, a past JOTY "winner", has now joined the crowded field for this year's mock award.

It Was 20 Years Ago Feb. 28

When over 20 innocent American children and women were killed: just one of the numerous glaring failures of the Clinton Presidency. We need to stop the stealth erosion of privacy rights, drones over the American skies spying on citizens which, if anything, have gained momentum under Obama... The G-Men have been playing the same old song...

The Moral Hazard of Our Foreign Policy

According to the Cato Institute:
The average American spends $2,300 on the military, based on the latest data available. That is roughly four and a half times more than what the average person in other NATO countries spends. These countries boast a collective GDP of approximately $19 trillion, 25 percent higher than the U.S.
I know what you're thinking--you just filed your taxes and didn't claim Japan and NATO as dependents....

As long as you and I are paying the tab for being the world's unloved, unappreciated  policeman, let Helen Reddy put us in the mood (yes, I'm sure you have been frightened by the clowns, like North Korea's Kim Jong Un and Iran's Ahmadinejad):

Judge Busts Milwaukee's Taxi Cartel: Thumbs UP!

From the Institute for Justice:
In a resounding victory for economic liberty, [Tuesday] Judge Jane Carroll of the Milwaukee Circuit Court struck down the city’s taxicab law that outlawed competition in the taxi market. The law, implemented by the city in 1991, caused the price of a taxi permit to rise from $85 to over $150,000. Judge Carroll ruled from the bench shortly after listening to arguments in a lawsuit brought by three local taxi drivers and the Institute for Justice (IJ), the national law firm for liberty.
“The court found that in 1991 the city purposely created an unconstitutional taxi system where only the privileged few would benefit and competition would be outlawed.” Judge Carroll found that both of the arguments the city provided for the law were illegitimate. The city argued that officials did not want to hold an annual meeting on the issue of taxicabs. But the judge ruled that public servants cannot write laws that simply save themselves from the trouble of going to a meeting. The city also argued that limited competition would make taxi owners more professional. Judge Carroll rejected that argument as well, saying that all the city did was provide a windfall for those who happened to have cabs in 1991.

President Obama offered to wash senators' car if it would lead to an immigration bill. Senators then told Obama, “If you're going to wash our cars, why do we need immigrants - Conan O'Brian

[And Congressman Young warned Obama his back might get wet.....Of course, college graduates under Obamanomics spraying and squeegeeing members' windshields for tips might find themselves looking for work.]

Federal law enforcement agencies say they believe [the poisoned letter to Obama came] from the same person who sent ricin to a Republican senator yesterday. At least he's bipartisan. - Jimmy Kimmel

[Obama is finally bringing people together--they despise both the Congress and the White House.]
