I saw "Moderna" trending, and surprise, surprise about 90% of the tweets I saw were anti-vaxxer FUD rubbish. Typical Politics of Envy charges of profiteering and the like.

After I left academia during a recession, I never used the title in professional IT. Professional recruiters were openly hostile to academic credentials and treated 8 years in academia as unemployment. I buried the PhD in my resume. A recent supervisor discovered it: "Dr. Ron".
— raguillemette (@raguillemette) January 30, 2023
I used to work with a former Marine who earned a DBA (think an MBA upgrade), comparable to Biden's EdD. Professional doctorates are lower on the academic food chain. I had never met someone with a DBA degree and never heard of the school he earned it from. It drove him nuts.
— raguillemette (@raguillemette) January 30, 2023
Don't get me wrong. I admire anyone who seeks to improve himself by pursuing advanced degrees, and that includes Mrs. Biden. But it's somewhat uncommon to reference or draw attention to one's credentials outside of academia or things like job interviews.

No, Novak Djokovic is no "hero". He's a self-serving jerk who promotes anti-vaxxer ignorance at the expense of public health

If you look at the education faculty at say UT/Austin, you will find the overwhelming majority have real PhD's, not EdD's.https://t.co/LYtZTf7zOW
— raguillemette (@raguillemette) January 30, 2023
This one troll tried to shame Megyn Kelly by alleging her own late father, a former New York/Albany associate professor, was an EdD. It took a bit of Googling but I finally confirmed it. https://t.co/j9Aup1Y7QX

The same kids who would train for weeks to run a marathon would complain about the time they spent on learning a new skill like computer programming vs. acing their college history course. It's hard, and if you, professor, were doing your job, it would be easier.

This is Soft Rock America. "Dr. Jill Biden" holds an EdD and insists on using her title socially. This reminds me I haven't heard Carly Simon's signature hit in a while: https://t.co/rA84WGPfBN

Some thin-skinned PhD troll got defensive over my calling her out during the Biden kerfuffle over using the title in her Twitter name. It was like the Boxer kerfuffle ("call me Senator, not ma'am") all over again.

Lots of healthy people die. My 30-something nephew, a new dad, coded in a hospital and fortunately survived his heart attack. Anti-vaxxers are trying to spread FUD about the best thing you can do to guard against the third leading cause of death.https://t.co/T8uzpeyKQC https://t.co/2CNG7VxeIY

I once worked with an associate professor at UTEP who earned his PhD at Texas Tech. He once bragged to me he slept with a famous female academic, then also from Texas Tech. Misinterpreting the look on my face, he went on to joke, "Hell, it's Lubbock; what else to do?
— raguillemette (@raguillemette) January 31, 2023

No, Biden doesn't have dementia, and I'm Never Biden. I just don't think lay people should jump to conclusions based on occasionally weird public behavior. I've personally known 2 older ladies who have been diagnosed, and it's really sad, not recognizing family, etc.

To Megyn Kelly and other uneducated fools who think the title "Doctor" is exclusively reserved for MD's:
— raguillemette (@raguillemette) February 1, 2023
"Doctor is an academic title that originates from the Latin word ... docēre 'to teach'. It has been an academic title since the 13th century".https://t.co/C6XyXRT6ws
"Although the usage of the title [Dr] by Ph.D. graduates has become common, its use socially by holders of professional doctorates is neither explicitly endorsed nor explicitly discouraged by writers on etiquette."
— raguillemette (@raguillemette) February 1, 2023
Biden's EdD is a professional doctorate.
Twitter users are bad at humor. Let me point out Brady's ex-wife Gisele is Brazilian. Santos' parents were Brazilian immigrants, and George lived in Brazil for a time. Try again. https://t.co/egdlX5e3mL
